In November 2025, the next key stage of the modernisation project for the refrigeration system at Peter Hünten GmbH in Löf was documented and accompanied. Following the successful start of the project with the installation of the new CO₂ refrigeration system, this phase focused on the parallel implementation of further technical measures – all while maintaining ongoing production operations.

The existing R404A refrigeration system, approximately 25 to 30 years old, is being gradually replaced by a modern CO₂ booster refrigeration system. To avoid production downtime, the conversion is carried out step by step: the new refrigeration system is fully installed and commissioned before any existing components are dismantled. This approach represents a textbook example of well-structured professional planning for commercial refrigeration systems.

During this intermediate stage, the new refrigeration system was further integrated into the existing infrastructure. This included progress within the technical container, initial work on pipe routing, and preparation for connection to the production areas. At the same time, existing systems were assessed and documented to enable precise planning of the subsequent dismantling phases.

A strong focus is placed on the future energy efficiency of the installation. In addition to CO₂ technology, new buffer systems for climate brine and NK brine are being implemented, particularly for sensitive production areas such as the smokehouses. The later integration of heat recovery systems is part of the overall planning concept and will be realised in upcoming construction stages. Deep-freeze areas have also been included in the planning from the outset, but will only be implemented in a later phase to minimise disruption to ongoing operations.
